The AGL Competency Management framework within Competency.Aero enables aviation, defence, and contractor personnel to record, verify, and demonstrate their Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) skills and qualifications.

It follows the IET AGL Competency Framework, aligning to BS EN 61821:2011 for the maintenance of aerodrome lighting constant-current circuits.

Competency Levels (ATSEP Model)

 

Each AGL task or role is classified by operational complexity and depth of knowledge:

• Level A: Immediate restoration or configuration (front-panel level)

• Level B: System-level fault analysis (functional level)

• Level C: Detailed diagnosis and repair (component or software level)

 

Individual Digital Electronic Logbooks

 

Every registered AGL professional has a personal competency logbook within Competency.Aero that records:

• Completed tasks and supporting evidence (e.g. maintenance reports, photographs, commissioning sheets).

• Independent verification or witness sign-off by qualified assessors.

• A live competency portfolio that can be shared directly with airports, defence clients, or contractors as proof of capability
